European Hardwood Floors

European Hardwood Floors

For people in America, deciding where to purchase a hardwood floor from can be tricky. For years, Europeans have set the standard for quality and innovation. The Italians are always forward thinking with ideas, colors, textures of wood flooring. The quality of the flooring from Italy, Germany and France is unsurpassed, and the technology they use is more advanced than anywhere in the world. We’ve visited countless factories and in Europe the attention to detail is far greater, and the people are more knowledgeable in the field of wood flooring. The factories in Europe have been passed down from generation to generation, and the products have been developed for decades to achieve the levels of quality we see today.

Europeans have always had a tough with Asian factories imitating their ideas. Labor is much cheaper in Asia, and similar-looking productscan be manufactured at less of a cost. These savings are passed on to American consumers, who feel they are getting a beautiful, quality floor at a fraction of the cost. This allows the Chinese factories to sell products in the US cheaper than what the Europeans can manufacture it or. This makes it difficult for the Europeans to stay competitive in the US market.

The problem is that the quality of manufacturing in Asian countries cannot compare to that of the Europeans. While Europe has spent generations honing and perfecting their skills, and passing down secrets over time, in Asia it seems to be just a temporary thing and not as important to them. Europeans have the best marketing materials based on true facts about their flooring being superior, but it remains difficult for them to be competitive in a market where price is the deciding factor in many cases.

All that notwithstanding, there is always a market for high-quality European products, and there are still many clients that only want European craftsmanship and warranty. No factories can stand by their products as much as the Europeans can, because no factories anywhere in the world use standards as high as them.

It’s going to be a fact of life that European wood floors will be copied. However, it is also a fact that the truly innovative, beautiful, best floors come from Europe, and the clients who want the best, will have to pay for it.
